A Chinese…but a good chinese….with added burger.

By What I Had For Dinner Tonight (Visit website)

It has been positively Mediterranean on the Island these past few days and tonight we had a three line whip, insisting that the young join us for an impromtu meal down on Cowes green. Not much resistance as it is some time since we had a chinese take-away !

We all glided down there in the Jag at about 8. Poppy looking like a million plus the one dollar the others just can’t manage, in fine fettle after a day’s chillin’ in the shops with Mum, Oscar brought along his lovely girlfriend Roseanna, Caroline put on some fetching pink shorts for the duration and I…well….I paid ! I know my place!

The chinese was crispy Chilli beef – everyone’s favourite – some Szechuen (ouch!) prawns en sloppe, some noodles…some more noodles..a entire lorry load of special flied lice, some prawn crackers and one or two more containers of UFO’s (unidentified fried objects),  all of which were eaten up…all, all, all !

I, in the meantime was determined to barbecue the burgers we bought yesterday, and so lit a disposable BBQ amongst the stones, and jolly good they were too (the burgers…not the stones…LMKO!!)

Trouble was no one, other than me, would touch them…and so, always on the lookout for opportunities for embarassing teenagers, I promptly offered all passers by the ‘unique opportunity’ to purchase a burger from us…actually I didnt do anything of the sort, but the threat of doing so…put everyone on their best behaviour…en cas de!

Pudding were chocolate brownies from the Co-op…quite brilliant

…indeed so brilliant I had secretly scoffed about 10 of them before I made their presence know to the baying hoardes!

A nice evening by the water, and one we will hopefully do again…!
