All the single ladies!
I haven’t been blogging the past few days because things have just been way too crazy. Having Mimi stay with us just added a little extra stress on me and the girls because of the sleeping arrangements. Regan didn’t take too kindly to Linsey getting to sleep in the living room so she didn’t sleep well – which means I didn’t sleep well. I’ve kept up pretty well with my October Goals, but am pretty positive they will go even better once our house routine is back to normal. I’ve been eating tons of pumpkin oatmeal… and sticking to the no cell phone at the table rule…which is HUGE for me. Linsey and I are single ladies this weekend. Jason left with Regan yesterday to take his grandmother to his dad’s house so she can visit with them for the last week of her trip. Linsey and I are living it up while we can! Last night after they left we took a very long walk to the bank and then came home to eat dinner and veg out on the couch watching movies. It was pretty great! First I made us some dinner. I went with leftover roasted veggies and baked tofu on a bed of fresh spinach with mandarin oranges and a drizzle of goddess dressing. It was heavenly! On the side I had a half piece of warm whole wheat naan with roasted garlic hummus smeared on top. Linsey was NOT interested so I made her some Annie’s mac n cheese and steamed broccoli. She was down with that when she found out there was a HUGE brownie in her dessert future. Then it was time for movies and vegging. We started with one of Linsey’s favorites – The Perfect Man.
After that (a my huge chocolate chip cookie) we watched one of my favorites…When Harry Met Sally.
All in all we had a great evening and I slept beautifully (although from what I hear I cannot say the same for poor Jason) and woke up right at 8:00 this morning. It was quite lovely. After leisurely walking the dogs, Linsey and I met our friends (the P’s) and walked to Bread Co for our usual Saturday morning breakfast. I’m so predictable and got the exact same thing that I ALWAYS get so I didn’t even bother to take a picture of my jalapeno cheddar bagel with egg, cheese and sun dried tomato cream cheese with hazelnut coffee. Currently I am sitting at Linsey’s dance studio while she has The Nutcracker rehearsal. We’ll be here for a few hours so I brought plenty to keep me busy…laptop, book, cell phone and snacks. Just call me a boy scout! Tonight I’m going a date. A real, live, dinner and a movie DATE…with Linsey. She hasn’t decided where she wants to eat for dinner, but I think we’re going to see either The Social Network (doubtful), Life As We Know It (possible) or The Secretariat (maybe)…I’ll keep you posted. On another note – I have some news. I’ve been talking a lot about the Foodbuzz Blogger Festival over the past few weeks, but something amazing happened to me recently making my trip just that closer to actually happening. I’ve been running silent auctions here, here and here that have not done well AT ALL. The awesome thing that has happened to make my trip that much more possible is that I have an amazing family member (who will remain unnamed at their request) who has BOOKED MY HOTEL ROOM ALREADY!!! That means that I only have to raise half the amount of money that I thought I would need. I would be ever so grateful if anyone wanted to help me out even a little bit. So far I have about half of the money I need to cover my plane ticket and have two weeks to raise the rest. You can make a donation (of ANY size) here or check out the above listed silent auctions. They are really fantastic…if I do say so myself! Happy Saturday!!!
