On the Road Again

By Food and Fond Memories (Visit website)

Once again I am apologizing for such a long time between posts.  Days and weeks just seem to slip away even though I promise myself that I will set up a regular schedule.  Now that I am home and back on track I have a lot to tell you!  Steve and I just got back from a bittersweet, but amazing nine day vacation in our RV.  The bittersweet part it that it was our last RV trip, at least for a while.  We are giving up RVing because it is just too expensive. Towing our Saturn Vue we only got about six miles to the gallon on this trip!  When we finally decide to buy another RV it will be a 40' diesel pusher with 4 slides.

Steve and I had planned on taking two weekend trips as a send-off.  The first was to be a weekend in Key Largo, followed by a Memorial Weekend trip to our all time favorite RV park - Sun & Fun RV Resort and Spa - in Sarasota, Florida.  Two nights before the first trip Steve suggested that we "blow off the Keys and spend the first weekend at Sun & Fun and then continue on to New Orleans for a week."  Needless to say I jumped at the chance to return to the  Big Easy!  Luckily for me I had just had my haircut, manicure and pedicure so all I had to do was decide what to take with me.  Steve brought the RV home Thursday after work, squeezed it into the driveway and immediately began loading our clothes in the bedroom closet.  That is the part of traveling without the RV that I will really miss.  No suitcases necessary!  The other things are always sleeping in our own bed, on our own sheets, with our own soft towels.  I could make lunch while Steve was driving and unless Steve needed a break we never had to stop at those yucky rest stops along the highway.  I will also miss those impromptu meals prepared with love in the RV's tiny kitchen.  No matter what, this trip was a fitting adieu to the RV life, at least for now.  Next post will be all about our adventure.
