for marinade:

1 tablespoons . soy sauce

1 tablespoons . water

for the beef broccoli sauce:

1/2  tablespoons . light soy sauce

1/2 tablespoons . dark soy sauce

1 1/2 tablespoons . oyster sauce

2 tablespoons . cornstarch

1 tablespoons . sugar

1/4 cup water

to cook broccoli:

1/2 kilo fresh broccoli

2 cups water

pinch of salt

3 tablespoons . cup oil (preferable olive oil)

1 head garlic

2 medium onion

1/2 kilo lean beef, sliced thinly


  • Mix all marinade ingredients in a bowl and add the sliced beef. Marinate for 30 minutes but one hour is better.
  • Meanwhile, peel and mince the garlic. Peel also the onions and slice thinly. Set aside.
  • Wash the broccoli with water, then drain. Cut the florets into bite sizes. Cut the stalk diagonally into thin slices.
  • In a small pot, bring to full boil 2 cups of water. Minimize heat to low. Season the water with salt then add the broccoli. Cook them for about a minute and drain. Set aside.
  • Heat oil in a separate wok or a non-stick pan. Saute garlic and onion. Then, add the sliced beef. Stirring occasionally. Stir fry until aromatic. Cook for about 5 minutes.
  • Add the beef broccoli sauce. Bring the to slow simmer, stirring frequently until cooked.
  • A minute before you turn the heat off, add the pre-cooked broccoli. Stirring well, until sauce covers the broccoli.
