250 ml milk

250 g all purpose flour

125 grams brown sugar

5 tablespoons honey

1 teaspoon baking soda

2 teaspoons ginger powder

2-3 teaspoons cinnamon

125 g butter

2 large eggs


  • Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F. Melt the butter and honey together, let them cool.
  • In a large bowl mix all the dry ingredients. Separately mix eggs with milk.
  • Add to the dry ingredients and mix well (you can use a food processor all the time), than add melted butter and mix well until all the ingredients are well incorporated.
  • The result is a pretty liquid batter, but don”t worry in the oven will rise properly.
  • Bake for 30-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • After the ginger cake has cooled on a wire rack, cut it into square shapes.
  • Sift powdered sugar over cake pieces and serve.
