Ingredients

Number of serving: 2
Sorekayi/bottle gourd chopped 1 ½ cups

Cilantro ¼ cup

Fenugreek seeds ½ teaspoon

Oil 5 teaspoons

Grated coconut ½ cup

Green chillies 2 or 3

Ginger 1 inch piece

Mustard seeds ½ teaspoon

Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

Asafoetida ¼ teaspoon

Turmeric powder ¼ teaspoon

Plain yogurt ½ cup

Salt to taste

Preparation

  • Grind together coconut, green chillies, fenugreek seeds, ginger, cilantro, mustard seeds and salt to a fine paste.
  • Heat oil in a pan and make the tempering with cumin seeds, turmeric, and asafoetida. To this add the chopped bottle gourd, cover and cook.
  • Once the pieces are cooked well add the masala paste and yogurt and mix well.
  • Let this come to boil and then take it off from heat to serve it with hot rice or chapathi.
