The perfect appetizer that everyone will agree on: Yakitori! These Japanese skewers combine marinated beef in a Yakitori sauce and hard cheese. Interestingly, you will find this recipe in most Japanese restaurants in France but not in the Land of the Rising Sun. This recipe is actually a creation of Japanese restaurateurs who know how much the French love cheese, unlike the Japanese :-)

  • Cheese and beef yakitori skewers - Preparation step 1Chop the green onion (only the green part).
    Combine the corn starch with some water (about a tablespoon).
  • Cheese and beef yakitori skewers - Preparation step 2Pour the soy sauce, water, brown sugar, and rice vinegar into a pot. Add the green onion and crushed garlic clove. Let it caramelize for about 3 to 5 minutes over high heat, stirring constantly.

Observations

Are your skewers not melting enough at the end of cooking? Before serving, cover your pan for a few minutes so the cheese continues to melt.
