Burmese butter & lentil rice / pe htaw bhut htamin


- 2 cups Basmati rice
- 1/4 cup Channa dal (soaked for 4 hours)
- 2 tablespoons Butter
- 1 teaspoon Sugar
- Salt
- 4 nos Bay leaves
- 2 nos Cinnamon stick
- 4 cups Water


Step 1

Wash the soaked channadal and drain well.

Step 2

In a pan, add the rice , channadal, butter, sugar, salt, bay leaves, cinnamon stick and water.

Step 3

Cover the saucepan and bring to boil, keep an eye while cooking and stir occasionally.

Step 4

Put the flame in simmer and cook until the water get absorbed and the rice and dal get cooked..let them aside..

Step 5

Serve hot with any sort curries.
