Chicken curry ~ chicken in onion gravy

Ingredients

Number of serving: 3
Chicken - 1 bird

Onion - 300 gms

Green Chili

Tomato - 1 medium

Ginger-garlic paste - 2 tbs

Lemon juice - 2 tbs

Redchili powder - 4 tps

Coriander powder - 2 tsp

Turmeric powder - 2 tsp

Cumin Powder - 1 tsp

Yogurt/Curd - 1/2 cup

Cloves - 2

Cardamom - 2

Peppercorn - 4-5

Oil - 5 tbs

Water -

Salt - to taste

Coriander leaves - 2 tbs

Preparation

  • Clean the chicken with water, add lemon juice & salt mix well. Then add turmeric, chili powder, coriander powder, 1 tbs ginger garlic paste, cumin powder and curd and keep for minimum of 1 hour.
  • Chop onion, tomato and green chili. Grind 3/4 of chopped onion in smooth paste add little water if required.
  • In a pan heat oil add cloves, cardamom, peppercorn and remaining chopped onion fry until onion become transparent. Now add onion paste, 1 tbs ginger garlic paste and fry until oil separates, add tomato, green chili and cook for 2 mins.
  • Add marinated chicken and mix well, cook for 5 mins with lid on. Check for spice and salt and if anything required add now. Cook in medium heat until chicken gets tender and cooked around 10-15 mins.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
