Kotopoulo lemonato (lemony chicken)

700 g chicken breasts fillet

4 tbsp olive oil

1 onion cut in rings

1 garlic clove, chopped

1 green bell pepper cut in strips

1 can mushrooms

¼ cup dry white wine

1 ¼ cups water

Small bunch of parsley chopped

¼ cup dried basil

¼ cup dried oregano

Salt and pepper to taste

3 tbsp corn flour dissolved in 3 tbsp water

1/8 cup lemon juice


  • Cut the chicken in pieces. In a pot put the olive oil and heat at medium-high heat.
  • Add the onion rings, garlic and peppers and sauté for 5 minutes. Add the chicken pieces and sauté for another 5 minutes.
  • Pour the wine and let evaporate until it stays half. Add the water and all the herbs except the parsley, plus salt and pepper and simmer for ½ an hour.
  • Add the lemon juice and parsley and continue to simmer for another half hour.
