Butter beans-250 g

Coconut grated-1 1/2 cups

Salt- to taste

Turmeric powder-1/2 teaspoon

Sambhar powder-2 teaspoons

Coriander leaves(optional)-for garnishing


  • Grind coconut and tomatoes to fine paste. Heat oil, add mustard and cumin.
  • When it splutters add onion and saute it. When golden brown add butter beans, coconut paste, turmeric powder, sambhar powder, water and salt.
  • Pressure cook for 5 minutes. Transfer it to serving dish and garnish with coriander leaves.
