Nestle chicken yakhni ( traditional kashmiri recipe )

Ingredients

NESTLÉ Fresh n Natural Dahi - 200 g

Chicken - 500g, 2 pieces

Mustard Oil - 4 tablespoons

Black Cardamom -1

Green cardamom - 2

Clove - 3

Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon

-Dry ginger powder - 1 teaspoon

-Aniseed powder - 4 teaspoons

-Salt - 1 teaspoon

Garam Masala powder - 1 teaspoon

-Tejpata ( bay leaf ) - 1

Water - 1 cup (150 ml)

Preparation

  • Clean and wash chicken, and cut into small pieces. Drain well. Heat oil in a pan. Add the chicken pieces and fry till light brown on all sides. Remove and keep aside.
  • Add the black cardamom, green cardamom, cloves and cumin seeds into the same oil, add ginger powder and aniseed powder, salt and the fried chicken pieces and sautĂ© for two minutes.
  • Add the garam masala and tejpata to the chicken mixture. Then add the water and salt and cook for 10 minutes, covering the pan.
  • Open the pan and cook till gravy is thick and chicken is well cooked. Add beaten curd. Keep stirring and allow the mixture to boil on low flame.
  • Remove from fire when the gravy is thick. Serve hot with steamed rice.
