  • First and foremost, make sure your eggs aren't too cold. If they've been in the refrigerator and are therefore very cold, let them sit at room temperature for 5 minutes.
  • Bring water to a boil in a saucepan.
  • Gently lower the eggs into the water so that the shells don't crack.
  • Cook for 3 to 4 minutes, depending on the desired texture. If you cook them longer, the yolk and white will be more or less runny.
  • Drain your egg and place it in an egg cup. Cut around the edge with a knife, and enjoy your meal!

FAQ ❓

How do you make bread sticks?

While your eggs are cooking, toast some slices of white bread. As soon as they come out of the toaster, cut them into strips to make bread sticks to serve with your soft-boiled eggs :-) Psst, our grandma even shared a recipe for “upgraded” French toast strips by spreading lightly salted butter on them ♥
As we mentioned above, French toast strips are the perfect accompaniment to your eggs. But don’t hesitate to prepare some grilled vegetables as well, such as bell peppers, zucchini, or potatoes cut into sticks. Add a green salad, and you’ve got the perfect dinner dish; or even a TV dinner worthy of the name! And for special occasions, you can even add a teaspoon of caviar. A simple, quick, and above all, super-chic recipe!
For those with the right tools, there’s a magical utensil available in stores: the egg cracker. With this “egg cutter,” you’ll be able to crack the shell of your egg with a clean cut. Otherwise, a good serrated knife (used to make a few quick cuts all around the shell) will do the trick just fine ;-)
If you’re short on time, the best thing to do is let your egg cook in boiling water for about ten minutes to turn it into a hard-boiled egg. Try again and pay closer attention to the timing to get a perfect soft-boiled egg!
If you’re not sure how your eggs are cooked, spin them on a flat countertop. If they spin at the same speed, they’re both raw. If one of your eggs spins faster than the other, it’s cooked!
