Cook the elbow macaroni in salted boiling water for 9 minutes. Reserve.
Add the milk gradually while whisking. The béchamel should thicken. Season with salt, pepper, and add ground nutmeg.
Remove from heat and add the grated cheeses. Stir well.
Add the drained macaroni and mix well.
Pour this mixture into a greased baking dish and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
Bake for 20 minutes at 350°F (180°C).
And there you have it, your Mac and Cheese is ready!
Observations
Grated Comté cheese: you can replace it with another cheese.
Breadcrumbs: you can replace them with grated cheese, or omit them altogether.
Elbow macaroni: these are the iconic pasta for Mac and Cheese, but you can use other types of pasta.
