Split Roasted Gram / Roasted channa dal - 1 cups

Dry Red Chilies - 7 nos

Cumin Seeds - 2 tablespoons

Coriander Seeds - 2 tablespoons

Curry  Leaves - 1/2 cup

Asafoetida - 1 tablespoon

Salt to taste

Oil - 1 teaspoon


  • In a pan dry roast cumin seeds,coriander seeds toss them on medium heat for 2-3 mt.
  • Next drizzle some oil in the vessel, add the dry red chillies ,keep it aside.
  • Now add the channa dal fry for 3 to 4 minutes,add asafoetida and fry for light brown color. Mix all the red chillies mix all mitures and add salt.
  • In a same add curry leaves fry for 3 to 4 minutes. Remove and keep it aside.
  • Now make fine powder of the channa dal in a coffee grinder or blender. Sieve the channa dal powder and if desire grind once again and make a very fine powder.
  • Serve hot with idly or white steamed rice and a oil or ghee.
