Preparation
Peel the apple and cut it into small cubes. Melt the salted butter in a hot pan, add the apple cubes and cinnamon, and stir. Cover for 5 minutes.
Cut the filo pastry sheets in half.
Fold one half of the sheet in half: bring the rounded edge over the cut edge.
Place about a tablespoon of the apple mixture at the edge of the filo pastry and fold the filled part to form a triangle.
Continue folding the triangle until you reach the end of the sheet. Brush the small remaining part of the sheet with beaten egg.
Place the samosas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush each side of the samosas with melted butter. Bake for 10 minutes at 200°C (390°F).
There you are, your apple samosas are ready :-)
Observations
How can I make my apple and cinnamon samosas extra crispy?
To achieve extra crispiness, ensure you brush both sides of the samosas with melted butter before baking, and consider using a higher oven temperature for the last few minutes of baking.
Can I use other fruits instead of apples in this samosa recipe?
Absolutely! Pears, peaches, or even berries can be great alternatives to apples, adding different flavors and textures to your samosas.
What is the best way to store leftover samosas?
Store leftover samosas in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. For longer storage, consider freezing them before baking.
Is it possible to make these samosas vegan?
Yes! You can substitute the egg with a plant-based egg replacer and use vegan butter instead of salted butter to make the recipe fully vegan.
What can I serve with apple and cinnamon samosas for a complete dessert?
These samosas pair wonderfully with melted chocolate, salted butter caramel, or even a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a delightful dessert experience.
