Mix the sugar and the softened butter. Add the eggs and mix well.
Zest the lemons and add them to the batter along with the lemon juice. Then incorporate the flour, baking powder, and salt, and mix well.
Pour the batter into a greased square mold and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 20 minutes. Check for doneness.
Wait for the cake to cool before unmolding. Decorate with lemon slices. Enjoy!
