  • Cook the rice with 5 cups water till the rice is mushy.
  • Mash the cooked rice well with a ladle or the back of a spoon.
  • Add chilli powder, jeera & salt to taste. Mix well.
  • Put the mashed mixture into a murukku press with a star disc.
  • Squeeze the mixture thru the murukku press onto a greased sheet of aluminium foil or a thin cloth.
  • Sun dry for 5-7 days till the vattals are completely dry.
  • Store it in an airtight container & deep fry whenever required.
