- Combine the dal, 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder & a pinch of hing. Pressure cook them.
- Heat oil in the kadai, add fenugreek seeds, mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves.
- Once splutter, add finely chopped onion. Saute till tender.
- Add finely chopped riped tomato, red chilly powder, salt and finely chopped methi leaves.
- Finally, add the cooked dal and tamarind extract. Cook for 5 more mins on medium flame.
- Before switching off the flame, add ghee and corriander leaves.
- Serve with rice.
