Number of serving: 2
Spring onions - 1 bunch (chopped)

Toor dal - 1 cup

Red chilly - 2 nos

Onion - 1 no (chopped)

Tomato - 1 no (chopped)

Chilly powder - 1 teaspoon

Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon

Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon

Salt to taste

Mustard seeds - 1/4 teaspoon

Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoon


  • Heat oil in pan, add cumin seeds, onion and saute till it becomes soft. Now add the tomatoes and saute for few minutes.
  • Add the chopped spring onions, salt, chilly powder, coriander powder, garam masala, little water, simmer and close the lid.
  • Pressure cook the toor dal till fully cooked and keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a separate pan, add mustard seeds and red chillies, after spluttering, add the cooked dal to it and mix well.
  • When the spring onions appears fully cooked and the raw taste is completely gone, add the above dal mixture to this and stir well.
  • Saute at regular intervals till the content becomes little dry. Serve hot.
