Tindora(kovakai-Ivy gourd -little gourd)-150gms(slit into four quarters)

Potato-2 ea Medium (deskin and cubed)

Oil-1 tablespoon

Mustard seed-1 teaspoon

Urad dhal-1 teaspoon

Red chilli powder-2 teaspoon (acc to taste)

-Turmeric powder-1 teaspoon

Salt- to taste

Curry leaves-1 sprig

Asafoetida(Hing)- a pinch


  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seed,urad dhal,turmeric powder, hing, curry leaves and saute few minutes.
  • Add tindora, aloo, chilli powder and salt.
  • Allow to cook with lid on top and if needed sprinkle water.
  • Cook until almost done and serve hot with Plain rice or breads
