Crispy tuna fritters with air fryer: an irresistible aperitif!

Beware, here's our new aperitif addiction: super-easy and quick tuna fritters made with the Air Fryer! Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, they can be served as an aperitif with a yoghurt sauce, or accompanied by a green salad for a complete meal. Air Fryer cooking produces a superbly crisp, gourmet result, without excess oil:-)

Peel the potatoes and cook in boiling water. When ready, remove from heat, drain and mash with a fork. Set aside for later use.
Brown the chopped shallot and garlic in a frying pan with a little olive oil.
Add tuna (drained), mashed potatoes, flour, salt, pepper and parsley. Turn off heat and stir to combine. Allow to cool completely.
Roll into balls of desired size. Bread them in the following order: wheat flour, egg and panko breadcrumbs.
Repeat until balls are well coated. Let stand in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
Apply olive oil to the tray of the Air Fryer using a spray or brush, then space out the balls. Spray again with a little oil and program the Air Fryer in Air Fry mode at 370°F/190°C. Cook the balls for 8 minutes. Turn over halfway through cooking.
And now they're ready! Serve with your favorite sauce (we love dipping them in yogurt sauce) or drizzle with lemon juice!

Store in an airtight tin in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the Air Fryer or oven.
Can I freeze tuna fritters?
Yes, they can be frozen.
Can I fry tuna fritters using traditional methods?
Yes, you can. Follow the same procedure, then fry them in plenty of hot oil and drain when golden brown. You can also prepare them in the oven, without frying them.
What sauces go with tuna balls?
Serve with yoghurt sauce, tzatziki, etc.
