Ingredients
Preparation
Pour the oil into a pot and sauté the chopped onion with the cumin for a few minutes.
Add garlic, ginger, clove, chili powder, cilantro powder, and cardamom powder, and sauté.
Then add the tomato paste and coconut cream. Mix and let simmer for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, rinse the lentils.
Add the red lentils, salt, pepper, and water. Stir everything together and cover. Cook for about 15-20 minutes after boiling.
After this time, remove the clove.
It's ready! Serve the dahl with rice and fresh coriander.
Observations
If you want a spicier dahl:
Cook the lentils separately. Put the rinsed lentils in cold water. Wait for it to boil and cook for 20 minutes. Prepare the spicy sauce in the same way, simmering for about 5 minutes. Add the drained lentils to the spicy preparation and mix.
You can replace ground ginger with fresh ginger and coconut cream with coconut milk.
